2002 included a fairly big controversy.
Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher started on pole position and lead the entire race.
On the very last straight-away of the last lap, Michael slowed down enough to allow teammate Rubens Barrichello to pass him and win the race.
Apparently, Michael did this to thank Rubens for his help in winning a previous race and clinch the top position in the season's points race.
The fans were quite upset, as was the FIA (the sanctioning body of Formula One), who instituted a rule about team orders.
